Previewing Monday Night Football Week 2:

It’s a Monday night double-header in the NFL and we’ve got two incredible matchups to break down. The first game on the docket features the Tennessee Titans traveling to Buffalo for the Bills home opener. The second game features the Minnesota Vikings traveling to Philadelphia for the Eagles home opener. Let’s get into it.

Titans @ Bills:

The Bills and Titans played one of the most exciting games of the entire season last year on Monday Night Football, when Josh Allen slipped and fell on a 4th down sneak attempt as the Titans made the stop to secure a 34-31 victory. The rematch will take place on Monday night, this time in Buffalo as the Bills look to make another statement win in primetime. The Titans come into this game trying to save their season after losing 21-20 on a last second 2-point conversion by the Giants.

Titans +10 (-110)

No team looked better in week 1 than the Bills but this spread is just too high. This feels like an overreaction to the Titans last second loss to the Giants. The Titans dominated most of that game and lost it at the very end on a 2-point conversion. This feels like a good buy low spot on the Titans and a sell high spot on the Bills who haven’t played in 11 days, that kind of rest will pay off in the later parts of the season but could be a detriment on the Bills on offense as the players might be a little rusty. NFL teams that lose straight up in week 1 as favorites are 32-20-1 ATS over the last 17 seasons in week 2. Mike Vrabel is also 13-3 ATS as an underdog of 4 points or more with 12 outright wins. Look for the Bills to win but back the Titans to keep this game close.

Vikings @ Eagles:

Two preseason NFC darlings will face off in the City of Brotherly love for game 2 of our doubleheader. Both these teams set the world on fire in week 1 with wins over tough NFC central opponents. The Vikings beat the Packers at home, while the Eagles took care of business against the Lions in Detroit. This is a very big early season game which could have implications stretching to future NFC playoff seeding.

Eagles Money line -140

This sets up to be a pretty good matchup for Philadelphia, the Vikings lack of a pass rush against the Eagles top offensive lines will allow Jalen Hurts to pick the Vikings secondary apart. If the pocket collapses Hurts can break contain and rush the ball for solid gains at will too. Conversely the Eagles defensive line can create problems for Minnesota’s offensive line, especially in the interior. While I’m high on the Vikings this season I think people are overrating just how impressive their week 1 victory over the Packers really was. I also think the Eagles are just a little bit better and they’re at home. One more reason to fade the Vikings is Kirk Cousins in primetime is usually hard to watch.
