Best NBA Bets for Thursday 12/1/2022
We only have one game on the NBA slate for today’s action, but we’re going to make the most of it. The 10-10 Dallas Mavericks will be visiting the 5-18 Detroit Pistons. I’m not going to sugar coat this, both these teams have been massive disappointments this season and I don’t know how to feel about it. Before the season I thought the Mavericks would be legitimate title contenders, and I thought the Pistons would be fighting for a spot in at least the play in game. As of right now, neither of those things appear to be true, and while there’s still a lot of games left to play, the clock is ticking on this NBA season.
Maybe I’m a fool, but I can’t quit on this Pistons team even though they have the worst record in the league right now. I also think this is a letdown spot for the Mavericks after a really tough win against the Warriors on Tuesday. Before that win, they were 1-5 over their last 6. They are clearly missing the second ball handler that Jalen Brunson provided last year and are so desperate to replace him that they signed Kemba Walker off the scrap heap. The Pistons are still playing hard, are at home, and are getting 8 points. I think this Pistons give the Mavericks a dog fight and keep this a close game the whole night. The Pistons also have a lot of wings to throw at Luka and while that probably won’t stop him it should at least slow him down.
Pick: Pistons +8 (-110)
