Best NBA Bets for Thursday 12-6:
It’s December which means we’re quickly approaching the Christmas Day games are the conventional “start” of the NBA season. We have a solid 3 game slate for tonight featuring the Pistons @ Heat, Lakers @ Cavaliers, and Mavericks @ Nuggets. Let’s get into it.
Pistons @ Heat:
Pick: Pistons +8.5 (-110)
The Heat played yesterday in Memphis and now travel back home to Miami on the 2nd half of a back-to-back. The Pistons were off yesterday and therefore have a massive rest advantage. While the Pistons may be one of the worst teams in the NBA they play hard each and every night and have give it their all. Not sure is the Heat will be resting guys but I wouldn’t be shocked if they did. The Heat have an older core and I would expect at least one of Lowry or Jimmy Butler to sit out tonight. The Pistons were good to me on Thursday ad I refuse to quit on them and their season even if they’re not a good team, Pistons to keep it close tonight and maybe even win outright.
Lakers @ Cavaliers
Pick: Lakers +5 (-110)
After starting the season off as one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen play basketball, the Lakers have gotten it together and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. LeBron has come back from injury and seems to be playing the way we all know he’s capable of, Westbrook is playing well in his new role, and Anthony Davis is playing at an MVP level right now. Darvin Ham is doing a good enough job with the rotations and game managing as well. This team is on the way up and I think are going to be a force going forward this season. Jarrett Allen is still out for Cavs as of writing this and I don’t think he plays this game, the Lakers are mostly healthy and all their key players are expected to play.
Mavericks @ Nuggets
Pick: Nuggets -5 (-110)
The Mavericks just played last night and now travel to Denver and I expect them to be gassed after beating the Warriors at home last night. Luka Doncic is the best player in the Western Conference right now but outside of him I’m not sold on this Mavericks team as presently constructed. The Nuggets were off last night and all their key pieces are expected to play this game. I think Jokic is going to dominate this Mavs front court that doesn’t have a lot of size at the center position. I don’t expect it but there could be some rest days for guys on the Mavericks and even if there isn’t, the thin air in Denver will have them reaching for oxygen masks by the 2nd quarter. Nuggets to route the Mavs.
