Monday Night Football Week 14: Patriots at Cardinals

Week 14 comes to a close with kind of an odd NFC vs AFC matchup as the Patriots travel to the desert and take on the Cardinals. The Patriots come into this game at 6-6 and still fighting for a playoff spot while the 4-8 Cardinals are technically still in the playoff hunt I don’t think they’re going to run the table to end the season and make the playoffs. I’m not going to lie this is an ugly matchup on both sides, the Patriots are average at best and arguably a bad team. If you take out the season sweep of the NY Jets, the Patriots are 4-6 against the rest of the league. Meanwhile the 4-8 Cardinals are just awful, I’m not sure what Kliff Kingsbury and their GM did to deserve extensions last off season, but it’s looking like Kliff may be on the way out at the end of the year. The Pats are on a 2 game losing streak and Mac Jones looks like he’s regressing week by week, while the Cardinals have the advantage of being off a bye week. I’m just not really sure where to go with this game honestly. As a Jets fan I’ve been paying a lot of attention
to the Patriots and I don’t think they’re as good as their 6-6 record says.

I think the Cardinals will win this game simply because they have the better QB in the matchup. I think the rosters are a virtual wash and while the Coaching favors the Patriots, Bill Belichick is not the coach he used to be. Honestly why are the Patriots even favored in this game, their offense is terrible having only broken 300 yards produced once in their last 6 games and their defense is mediocre at best being ranked 24 th in defensive DVOA. The Cardinals have the best player at the most important position in this matchup and they’re at home. I think Kyler Murray carries the Cardinals over the finish line in this one. Bill Belichick is basically .500 ATS as a coach when Tom Brady isn’t his QB. This Pats defense has struggled against mobile QB’s like Lamar Jackson and Justin fields (Kyler somewhere in between those 2 as a player). The Cardinals finally got all their skill position players and QB on the field together at the same time and it looked pretty decent. Cardinals win in a low scoring affair and live to die another day. The Monday night games have been mostly terrible this year, really hate to see it. I don’t see this being much different honestly .Pats lose and are officially behind the 8 ball in terms of their playoff chances. I need a Cardinals w tonight as well for my own sanity of being a Jets fan. If the Pats win they leapfrog the Jets who just got leapfrogged by the Chargers. Tough scenes all over the place.

Pick: Saints +3 (-105)
