Best NBA Bets for Tuesday 12-27
It’s December 27th which means the NBA season has officially “begun” according to the masses. From now to the all-star break teams will be trying to solidify their place in the league. Trades, intensity and malcontent will all be ramping up in the coming days and weeks. With all that in mind we have a beautiful 10 game slate for tonight featuring some pretty great matchups. Let’s get into some of my favorite matchups for tonight.
Lakers at Magic
Why are the Lakers underdogs in this matchup? I get the Magic have been on fire recently and are 8-2 in their last 10 games but should they really be favored against a Lakers team that has been playing decently as of late and fighting for their playoff lives. The Lakers have been up and down for most of this season because of injuries and a poorly built roster, but before Anthony Davis got hurt this team was on fire and playing good basketball. I just have a hard time imagining the Lakers being this bad and the Magic being as good as they’ve been. I think the Lakers win this game but I’ll take the 3.5 points just to be safe.
Pick: Lakers +3.5 (-110)
Hawks at Pacers
The wrong team is favored in this matchup. The Hawks are officially on fraud watch until they make a change at coach or a change to the roster. Trae Young seems to be getting fed up with the coach and roster in Atlanta. The Hawks could potentially be in free fall if the frustration boils over and Trae Young ends up demanding a trade, which has been reported recently so there’s certainly possible. The tandem of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray has been imperfect from the start and I don’t think it can get much better than it is now. The Pacers on the other hand are probably the surprise team of the year right now, Tyrese Haliburton is playing at an All NBA level and with Bennedict Mathurin, Myles Turner and Buddy Hield this is a solid roster. Add to that the Pacers are at home and I think they win this game straight up.
Pick: Pacers +1.5 (-110)
Suns at Grizzlies
This is wrong place wrong time for the Suns who will be without Devin Booker, Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet. The Suns are also riding a 3 game losing streak and could potentially be in a free fall with all these injuries piling up. Chris Paul hasn’t looked like the Chris Paul of old and the rest of the roster isn’t good enough to overcome it without Devin Booker. The Grizzlies were in Phoenix less than a week ago and routed the Suns 125 to 100. Desmond Bane is back and should be improving by the day after being out for a month and a half. Grizzlies should have no problem winning this game in impressive fashion as they compete for the 1 seed in the west.
Pick: Grizzlies -8 (-110)
